We have all been told at least once in our lives to eat our vegetables and probably for good reason. Maintaining a good lifestyle means incorporating a good diet plan. Vegetables are full of vitamins, minerals and fibre.

Kale is a popular vegetable and is full of vitamin C which is great for your immune system, heart and skin – also acts as an antioxidant, helping lower cholesterol and may reduce the risk of heart disease. Kale also contains vitamin K and lutein which are good for your blood and eyes.  It is also known as one of the most nutrient vegetables.

Spinach is a great source of non-heme iron. It also meets your daily requirements for vitamin K and lutein. It is good for your muscles and heart as it has plenty of vitamin C and potassium. Spinach is one of the best sources of dietary potassium.

Broccoli is packed with antioxidants. It is also a good source of nutrients because it is rich in vitamin C.

Some researchers have suggested that small amounts of broccoli may protect against the risk of cancer.

Peas contain nutrients including iron and are low in fat but high in everything else.

The consumption of peas may prevent arthritis, bronchitis, osteoporosis and candida – because of their anti-inflammatory properties. One cup of peas contains 44% of your vitamin K.

Brussels sprouts are easy to cook and provide you with your daily vitamin C in just half a cup. They also contain antioxidants that help detoxify cancer and fight heart disease. It is an excellent source of vitamin K. They also provide protection from vitamin A deficiency, bon loss and iron-deficiency anaemia.
