Importance of the vote

Importance of the vote

I am totally amazed at the comments from your Deputy Editor, Tina Foster, regarding the Referendum debate. This is the most important vote for residents in this country, since 1975. What doesn’t she understand, the debate has been covered in every media outlet every day for months. We have heard all the arguments, propaganda from the Tories, and negativity from Labour, (who have consistently voted against allowing a referendum at any time). Do we want to retrieve our sovereignty, take back pride in our country, control our own boarders, export to the world, recover our justice system and, save billions of pounds each year to spend here in the U.K.? Or, does she want to be ruled by a power crazy, corrupt, and unelected elite in Brussels, and accept decisions made by twenty seven other countries!

In the same issue there’s a letter from June Jones (also from Swansea), with the most frivolous comment on the referendum. I have spoken to many people of my age group, who voted in 1975 to remain in the EU and who now regret their decision. At the time they were swayed by the propaganda from the Tory & Labour Party, so no change now then. Even a Tory party who have spent £9.3 million of your money to frighten you into voting to remain! When making your decision on June 23rd, remember, our ‘Oldies’ vote will not affect us so much, but our children and grandchildren.  We are voting for their future. If you vote to remain, I fear we shall soon see the end of our country, as we have known it, and become a ‘zone’ in the United States of Europe. So here we have it, Ms Jones is voting to support her political party, before her country. ‘Simples!’
