I am both a certain “No” voter in the EU referendum and a firm believer in referenda on major issues. Tina Foster seems to be under the impression that MPs exercise their own judgment rather than being mere lobby fodder for the Whips. And what makes her think that they understand the issues any better than we do? If they had to pass a test on a particular Bill before they voted, how many of them would be able to vote?
