A letter from Alan Bole – Pensioner Benefits

I am sure that many people do not realise that the TV licence fee is for the right to have TV equipment in their home – irrespective of whether they watch the BBC or not. If this were not the case TV’s without BBC channels would have been developed years ago.

Our free swims (claimed to keep us healthy and out of the NHS and also a social opportunity for those living alone) are now costing us £183 per year. Swimmers have now given up and meet for morning coffee instead.

What next? Bus passes, winter fuel payments, prescription charges, the Christmas bonus? The elderly and vulnerable are easy targets!
