Before I Go by Colleen Oakley

Before I Go by Colleen Oakley

Daisy has been diagnosed with cancer again after being clear from her previous breast cancer three years ago.  Now she is told that there is nothing that can be done for her and that she has 6 months to live.

She is only 27 and happily married to Jack so the news is devastating to both of them.  Rather than worry about herself, Daisy is determined to find a new wife for Jack who she considers disorganised and unable to look after himself.

Colleen OakleyThis book is a real tearjerker, a heartrending tale of loss and death and the end can only be tragic but Oakley is a good writer and there are amusing moments to lighten the  tragedy.  There will be no happy ever after but as the quote says no-one comes out of life alive.

This is certainly worth a read and although the central theme is approaching death we can all learn a lesson from how we deal with the inevitable.  Well done Colleen Oakley for tackling this subject and in being honest showing us that it can and must be accepted.
