Ystradgynlais Welfare Ground Sports Association appeal for help.

I used to distribute the Mature Times from Ystradgynlais Post Office but I retired in 2007 and now I collect a copy from Ystradgynlais Library.

The Association has reached the final online stage of voting on www.mandsenergyfund.com for the £40,000.00 main fund so that we can install Solar PV panels on the sports changing rooms.

This will supply us with free  green energy and therefore help us to boost our low funds. Powys County Council devolved as a Community Asset Transfer all responsibility for the 13 acre sports area from 1st April this year.

The community enjoys access to soccer, rugby, cricket, lawn bowls and tennis; and a national cycle path exists on the area. The area supports, and is used by ages from 9 to 90+. I have played bowls with 94 year old Tom  Edwards and 92 year old Jack Davies.

Information can be downloaded from South Wales Evening Post [Ystradgynlais Energy Fund] on 1st September regarding our entry. There are many good causes trying for funds and these do not receive the publicity that they merit, e.g.Samaritans in Reading do good work, and last time I checked they only had 20 votes.

There are projects in your vicinity that warrant publicity.I hope this news will be of interest to the Mature Times and that you will help the projects to gain publicity and therefore, more votes.

Many thanks,

Peter Gwyn-Jones Hon.Treasurer Y.W.G.S.A.

P.S.I am 77 years of age and still very active in sport.
