Charles Metcalfe is appearing at the Foodies Festivals throughout the UK this summer with Discover the Origin, hosting food and wine pairing sessions in the marquees set up on site.
We caught up with him at Foodies Bristol and produced a short online video with Charles giving his top tips on wines for the summer and challenging some conventions of wine pairing. We often get stuck in ruts when it comes to food and wine pairing, hear Charles talk about his favourite summer wines and how we can in fact cool down red wine this season and much more.
Discover the Origin, is a European Union campaign designed to raise awareness around five Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) products: Parma Ham, Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese, Bourgogne Wines, Douro Wines and Port.
Campaign spokesperson Nathalie Hordonneau says: “The Foodies Festivals offers a wonderful opportunity to interact with consumers who are keen to discover our products and learn more about the notion of provenance. This year we are excited to have one of the UK’s biggest names in food and wine to talk about Discover the Origin products, provide tips on best ways to fully enjoy them and highlight what makes them so special.”
Trained food experts are at the Discover the Origin stand to demonstrate the finesse required to skilfully slice Parma Ham as well as the authentic way to cut Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese.
