Sue said: “Joy has often told me how much she would like to go horse-riding again, having been an experienced rider and owner of her own Arab horse in her younger years.

“I thought it would be fantastic if Joy could be offered the opportunity to go riding again, and was very impressed with the ‘can do’ attitude of Wildwoods and the helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff.

“Older age is often thought of as a time when people can no longer do things that they used to do, but hopefully Joy’s experience shows that it is still possible to enjoy one’s interests, even if in a slightly modified form.

“Joy is now looking forward to her 100th and thinking how she can top her morning in the saddle.”

Joy met her late husband Michael, with whom she had three children, while serving during World War Two.
