Car Insurance confusion

Car Insurance confusion

I wonder if anyone else has had trouble with renewing their car insurance.  I have recently been totally confused by being asked for a PDF, or printed copy of my licence summary.  I renewed my policy over the telephone as I was not sent anything in the post and was sent my documents by email.  Luckily my lovely granddaughter helped me by printing off the forms for me to sign to send back to the insurance company.   I also had to send a copy of both sides of my driving license, and my husband’s, with the forms.

I then received another letter from the company asking for the forms and driving licences again and the licence summary, so I rang the company who told me I need to “go online” and get a licence code from the DVLA.  When I tried to explain that I did not understand how to go online and what was the DVLA (the young man on the phone did not know what it stood for, and that I did not know what a PDF was), I was forced to admit that I am a pensioner and don’t go online.

Eventually with help it was all sorted out but this is yet another example of the government forcing us to use the internet and the companies who provide the services not understanding that those of us who are older need more patience.
