Moving home with pets in tow?

Moving house is not just stressful for us, it is also stressful for our pets. We’re taking them away from their safe place, from their territory and everything that’s familiar to them. In fact 48% of pet owners say that their pet experienced stress during their move.

According to recent research from the MoneySuperMarket Home Movers Hub, some of the main problems that those moving home experienced were toilet accidents, pets running away to their old home, or going missing altogether.

So just how can you alleviate the stress on your animals during and before a move? From keeping your animal safe and housed in one secure room while the ‘moving out’ takes place, to putting familiar items, toys, beds, things that smell of the old house to make them feel at home as soon as you move into your new home our video covers it all.

Watch our video where we discuss the best ways to make sure that your pet stays as relaxed as possible and settles in quickly to their new home.

Hero dogs join forces to fundraise for Guide Dogs

Well-known charity Guide Dogs is gearing up for its headline Dogs Unite sponsored dog walking event which takes place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Saturday June 14.

Dogs Unite is a series of sponsored dog walking events that give all dogs the chance to be heroes for the day (capes included!), by raising vital funds for guide dogs – enabling them to support more people who are visually impaired to lead confident, independent and active lives.

While guide dogs and their supporting four-legged friends prepare to be the new heroes in town, a poll for Dogs Unite found that Lassie still tops the charts as the ultimate hero dog (40%), followed by World Trade Centre hero, Trakr (16%), with Buddy, the very first guide dog, in third place (14%).

When asked to choose their ultimate doggy companion, respondents said that Wallace’s pal, Gromit, was the no.1 chum followed by Dorothy’s faithful Toto in second place.

The top 10 ultimate doggy companions are:

1. Gromit

2. Toto

= 3. Lady and the Tramp

= 3. Pluto

4. Scooby-do

5. Beethoven

6. Goofy

7. Spot

8. Doogal

9. Perdy and Pongo

10. Marley
