Joyce Glasser – Bio

After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in English and from Middlebury College and La Sorbonne, with an MA in French, Joyce Glasser began her career in the Paris office of the film studio United Artists.

She then moved to Los Angeles to study for an MBA at the University of California. After graduating, she worked in television production (returning to Paris for a year) and programme acquisition for a distribution company.

In 1990, Joyce moved to London at the request of the UK’s foremost insurance loss adjuster specialising in film and television claims, including the BBC and Channel 4 independent producer schemes.

After five years, Joyce left to join the Arts Council of England Lottery Film Department, now the UK Film Council, as a Production Executive responsible for applications for film funding and development.

During that time, Joyce obtained a law degree that sparked her interest in the controversial age discrimination legislation.

She spent four years campaigning against the National Default Retirement Age and publishing articles on the subject of age discrimination and the legislation.

Since 2008 Joyce has been writing film reviews from the perspective of older audiences for Mature Times, teaching, studying fine art and architecture and campaigning.
