Welcome to whole new online world

After reading “loneliness can be tackled with internet training” (June edition), I would like to say that many older people fear to use a computer.

It’s new to them and in their day never learnt at school and many will have gone throughout their working lives without having to use one.

But learning to use the internet or sending an email is not as bad as it seems. Learning to send emails and surfing the internet is just the basics to open up a new world and can be taught very quickly and to people who consider themselves not all that educationally bright.

There are courses all over the country and often only in walking distance from their homes and often are free or at a low cost. Many would wonder why they did not learn years ago and now have a new skill.
