Survivalist is a gripping post-apocalypse thriller

SURVIVALIST (Bulldog) is a British/Irish science-fiction post-apocalypse thriller; and it is absolutely raw and painful to watch.  A man (Martin McCann, very convincing) has lived alone in a woodland cabin for the last seven years. An elderly woman and her daughter (Olwen Fouere and Mia Goth) seek refuge. Will they kill him? Or will he kill them? Or will they be killed by marauders? The tension is always there. BAFTA-nominated Steven Fingleton (in his impressive directorial debut) gives a very grim and brutal Darwinian vision of what life will be like in Britain if we vote to Leave the EU. Or, perhaps, it is a vision of what life will be like if we vote to Remain? Either way, this is not an easy film to recommend.
