Queen’s Speech welcomed by organisation representing over 70,000 pensioners

Malcolm Booth CEO - NFOPThe National Federation of Occupational Pensioners (NFOP) welcomes the announcements in the Queen’s Speech that the triple-lock will continue for the duration of the Parliament and that the Universal Benefits that pensioners currently enjoy will be maintained.

Malcolm Booth, CEO of NFOP, said: “this news will give peace of mind to pensioners in general and offer those surviving on the minimum state pension a degree of comfort.

“Confirmation that the long term plan to integrate health and social care is further positive news. This long overdue step will ensure that those who need help and support will receive it in the most appropriate environment and hopefully reduce the burden on A&E departments and hospital wards created by the current system.

“It is reassuring that these commitments have been made to those in later life.”
