Please don’t take our libraries away

I would like to say that public libraries mean everything to me and I would be heartbroken if any of those nearby were to close down.

I first fell in love with libraries whilst evacuated as a child during World War II. One evening a week we wer allowed out on very cold and very dark winter evenings to visit our local library.

It is still one of my most treasured memories of opening those heavy doors and slipping into a world of warmth, light and books.

I have been hooked on libraries ever since, encouraging our children and grandchildren to enjoy the gift of reading.

Please don’t let anyone take that privilege away from those who enjoy reading but cannot always afford to buy books themselves.
