EU commissioners are appointed by member countries

One policy of UKIP and its followers seems to be “never let the truth get in the way of an EU scare story and correspondent Colin Bullen appears to be a UKIP disciple.

EU commissioners are appointed by member countries so they are not some strange alien body intent on control. MEPs are elected using proportional representation that means that all parties that have enough support have a good chance of getting their candidates elected. Unfortunately UKIP MEPs have mostly taken their money without contributing much.

Finally decisions are approved by the council of ministers i.e. the political leaders of member countries. Just because the UK does not always get their way does not make the EU undemocratic any more than the UK when an opposition party here does not agree with whichever party is in government.
