Blame for being older

Blame for being older

I am sick and tired of one crisis after another being blamed on “the older generation” or “that people are living longer” excuses. Perhaps ‘sick’ is wrong choice of word, indeed ‘tired’ may not be actively acceptable.

Along with many others I count myself as one of the baby boomers from mid/late forties and early fifties. The authorities knew we were here as births are registered, and a statistic in all official records. We did not magically appear a few years ago seeking such things as medical help or state pensions.

The other question is at what age do people get tagged as being “older”? Each of us day-to-day is getting older, the alternative is not something we care to think about.

If a political party openly admitted they made misjudgements, or ignored what they knew was going to happen with a large number of people reaching ‘older’ in the same decade, then they will get my vote at the general election.
