Ofcom recently announced that the number of people aged 65 and over accessing the internet has risen by more than a quarter in the past year, driven by a three-fold increase in the use of tablet computers.
As more and more over 65s are accessing apps through tablet computers and smartphones Puzzler Media Ltd has put together a list of the top five apps for older people.

Skype (Skype Communications SARL): Whilst Skype has been available for some time now, we predict that increasing numbers of older people will start using the communication app to stay in touch with family and friends. Free to download from the app store, users can connect to other Skype account holders at no extra cost via tablet, smartphone or computer. Its video calling function also means older generations can visually connect with children and grandchildren in far places.

5. Pill Reminder Pro (Winkpass Creations Inc.): This handy app stores details of the user’s medication and will remind them when to take it, and in what quantities.
