In the September issue of Mature Times, the article by Tina Foster “What makes you laugh” set me thinking way back to the wireless days of the 1940s and 50s, there were certainly many female comedy acts, who broadcast regularly, including Suzette Tarry, Elsie and Doris Waters (Gert and Daisy), Gracie Fields, Hilda Baker, Beryl Reed, Joyce Grenfell and of course June Whitfield, who is a character actress and thankfully, still with us, and continues to make us laugh.
May we always keep our sense of humour.
