Come and make new friends

I am the chairperson and senior welfare benefits adviser at Age Concern Bridgend & District.

Our offices at 24 Victoria Avenue in Porthcawl had been starting to look quite shabby and rundown and were in need of a new coat of paint.

Being a charity, our funds were in short supply and so the fact we have been able to redecorate is all down to the kindness and donations of Baker’s DIY and Mr Deere. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteer Jim, who came and did the painting in his own time.

From our newly-spruced up offices, we offer a range of services to support older people in the Bridgend and District area.

On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday we are open from 11.00am to 2.00pm and on Wednesday we open from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
Appointments must be pre-booked by calling 01656 785 910.

It’s really worth paying us a visit or picking up the phone to have a chat to find out what Age Concern Bridgend & District can do for you.
We help local older people to claim any extra money that they are entitled to receive, and we can even fill in all those forms for you.

Age Concern Bridgend & District runs a ‘Knit & Knatter’ group every Wednesday afternoon from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, and you don’t have to be able to knit or crochet to take part.

If you need information or advice, if we can’t help you, we’ll know someone who can, and we’ll point you in the right direction.

We’re also looking for volunteers to help us set up a befriending group later in the year.

If you can help, please do get in touch.
