The easy answer to your phone

How often does this happen to you? You’re expecting a call from a close friend or relative – or perhaps the doctor or nurse. The phone rings – but you can’t get there in time. It could be because you’re doing something that prevents you picking up the phone, or perhaps you’re in bed, feeling ill, or unable to get to the phone quickly because of an illness or disability.

So the call inevitably goes to voice mail. Then there’s the bother of  retrieving the voice mail – not easy on some phones. Even if you can,
it’s going to cost you to retrieve it, and then you’re trying to get the person back… when perhaps they’re ringing you again because they’re worried that you haven’t picked the phone up.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could take these calls but, at the same time, make sure that they are only from callers you want to speak to?

Well you can now!

The new Burnside P230 phone can automatically let important callers speak to you without you touching or even coming to your phone. All you have to do is to store the phone numbers of your important callers in the any of the five memory buttons on the phone. The next time you get a call from one of these numbers their call automatically opens up the hands-free speaker and microphone on your P230 phone. So you can have a conversation with the caller - without even having to operate the phone.

The Burnside has other advantages not found in any other phone. It combines the ease of use of a large button desktop phone with the ‘use it anywhere’ flexibility of a mobile phone. All you have to do to get it working is to plug its charger into the mains and insert any ordinary mobile phone SIM. In less than a minute, you’re on the air without the delay and expense associated with landline connections. You can take the phone anywhere and use it anywhere within mobile phone coverage. If you’re in a care home and you’re moved to another room, no problem - and no rip off BT reconnection charge. Go away on holiday or to stay with your family, and you can take it with you – you’re never out of touch, and you won’t miss any important calls.

So how do you pay for your calls? If you mostly receive calls then a Pay As You Go SIM is the most economical solution for you - costing only a few pounds to buy in any mobile phone shop or supermarket. And you only pay for the calls you make - unlike a landline phone where you have to pay a monthly rental even if you don’t make any calls.

If you are going to be making a lot of outgoing calls it will probably pay you to use a SIM on a monthly contract - costing about the same per month as a landline phone. Calling your nearest and dearest is easy because their numbers are already stored in the memory buttons of the phone. You can even call an emergency number call simply by lifting the handset and waiting a few seconds.

Just like a mobile phone you can also send and receive text messages
using the large screen on the phone and if you’re really keen you can
hook up your computer and use its keyboard to send text messages.
