Firstly, I would like to suggest that providing an e-mail address for Charlotte Courthold would make it infinitely easier to contribute to your “old fossils” article. You wouldn’t say “shevelled because the “s” part is part of the prefix. You would have to say “hevelled” as in “hevelled and kempt” meaning neat and tidy. I trust this suggestion will leave you turbed, traught and mayed.

I’ve often thought that “gruntled” would be an excellent word to have around.
