Hat trick

Hat trick

A shocked woman browsing for bargains in a charity shop stumbled across the hat she wore to her daughter’s wedding – 24 YEARS ago.

Andrea Lanxon, 64 – who still has the matching blue suit in her wardrobe – hired the headgear for the big day in July 1990.

She returned it to the dress hire shop afterwards and thought nothing more of it – until she spotted it this week in the window of a local branch of Scope.

Snapped up

Andrea dashed inside the shop and snapped up the polyester hat for £4 before ringing daughter Annette Smith, 46, to tell her about her amazing find.

She still has the matching blue suit she wore as Annette married husband Simon, 46, at St John’s Methodist church in their home town of St Austell, Cornwall.

Events organiser Andrea, who has two grandchildren, said: “I was walking past the Scope charity shop in the town on Saturday and I spotted the hat in the window.

Disbelief

Hat trick 2“I thought ‘surely that can’t be my hat?’, I couldn’t believe it when I realised it was.

“I hired the hat to match the outfit I was wearing on the day.

“I still have the suit, handbag and shoes at home and now I have the hat back to go with it all.

“I’ve told my daughter and she was really amused. She’s on holiday but can’t wait to see it when she gets back.

“I’ll be keeping the hat now for when my grandchildren get married.”
