Empty nest, full stockings

Empty nest, full stockings

This will be our first Christmas with an empty nest! All three of the little darlings now have left home – one the country.

I know most of us wish it on, but I didn’t.

I loved having the bustle and chaos that goes with a houseful of teenagers (we had three under three).

My wife Jane and I are lucky though. Like most families, the brood return to roost at Christmas for a little pampering, food and festive good cheer.

We get it easy, as my own long-suffering parents still prepare the Christmas dinner and venue for a slap up feast. We are joined by my brother and sister and their families.

Life-long friends also descend for the duration. But many are not so lucky. Some people have little contact with family, some have none.

So the MT message this year is the same as the last – if you can spread a little love and kindness to those less fortunate – do it!
