Tranquil Lymington is ‘shore’ to inspire the retired

Set along the beautiful shoreline of the River Lymington, Redrow Homes’ development, Lymington Shores has revitalised the eastern end of town, re-connecting the land to the town centre.

Lymington 8The 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, duplexes and penthouses, and 3 and 5 bedroom villas on the Lymington Shores development are a site to behold in themselves – but set against the tranquil setting of the waterfront, the homes provide a welcoming and characterful sense of place. Both the architecture and interior design have been created with the unique ambience of Lymington town in mind. Features such as the exterior waved wall mirror the distinct architecture of buildings in the picturesque town, as do the Georgian and Victorian brickwork used on every individual home.

Contemporary style mixes with a traditional charm as you walk through the door of a Lymington Shores home. Gleaming fully fitted kitchens, luxurious bathrooms and full height ceilings and windows complete the light and airy sense of exclusive comfort. Balconies unlock views over the water, where residents can watch the sailing boats glide by whilst sitting in the peace and comfort of their own personal deck. The open areas around the development enhance the spirit of space and serenity – a private paradise for all who choose to retire to Lymington.

The collection of apartments and villas are perfect for those looking to downsize or retire. Tony and Peggy Venn, a retired couple, recently relocated to Lymington Shores from their home in Uxbridge, and are now enjoying life in the picturesque town.

Since moving to Lymington, Tony and Peggy are enjoying retired life, having taken the plunge to get married after arriving – the couple have been welcomed by the beautiful surroundings and lovely local people.

“When we first passed Lymington Shores we wondered if we could get in and have a nose around” Peggy explained. “When we got back home, Tony said, ‘I could live there’. I was quite shocked! But we put the house on the market and it sold the next day. We put our deposit down and it all went from there – we moved in in 10 weeks.

Lymington 7“Every day we wake up and think: how lucky are we? We feel we’re very fortunate to live in such a lovely place, in a lovely home, and with all these lovely people around us. We love Lymington and what’s nice is that you can walk to the shops and restaurants. It’s wonderful being so close to the river and the New Forest. We are definitely happy to have made the change. It’s the best thing we have done and we’re really thrilled with it, we can’t express how brilliant it’s been.”

A real sense of community can be felt the moment you enter the town – and a number of community events take place throughout the year, encouraging local residents to get involved and give back to the community that has so much to offer to its residents. Most recently, residents were invited to join the team in hosting a visit from the Lymington International Twinning Association and the Almansa Mayor to celebrate Lymington’s twinned status with Almansa, Spain.

A commemorative tree was planted on the aptly named Almansa Way, the main road leading through Lymington Shores, to mark the occasion. Events such as this remind residents and visitors of this great partnership and continued friendship.

Lymington Shores provides a unique blend of style, heritage and the inimitable Lymington charm that makes it the ideal tranquil location for those looking for a new home to begin the later chapters of life.
