I first became a blood donor many years ago when I was working as a nurse at the local hospital. I have continued to donate and will continue for as long as I can. On my 70th birthday I went to my local Blood donor centre to donate my 70th pint of blood. My photo was taken by the Manchester Evening News and I was featured on the official donor website.
I am lucky that I am fit and healthy. I still go cycling and walking, and maintain a large garden and allotment.
Knowing that I have helped many people with terrible illnesses is thanks enough and I want to encourage more people to donate and save lives.
