Doncaster Council care homes closures

Doncaster Council care homes closures

After some 50+ years of reading UK newspapers, I would occasionally come across this same message by the left-leaning newspapers: ‘It’s the sign of a decent country that cares for the elderly and infirm’, or words to that effect.http://search.iminent.com/SearchTheWeb/v6/1033/NewTab/Newtab.aspx

Since last Autumn though, this old homily has suffered a complete reversal. It was then that we heard of the planned closure of care homes in Doncaster Borough. As a shock and scandal this disclosure doesn’t rate up with the Labour Council child abuse by ethnics, scandal in Rotherham , but is up there!

Why?  I ask myself, would they,  a LABOUR council,  do this and why now, The only answer that immediately came to mind was that as they were making cuts decreed by a ‘Tory-led  government’ as the Socialists call the coalition,  they were  willing to use the elderly and infirm in  their plot to be within budget and then blame the ‘Tories’ in a despicable ‘double-whammy’,  I don’t really know, but it’s a far cry from the moral high ground we are accustomed to a Labour party taking, one usually admonishing the ‘evil Tories.

I think it’s a great shame that we spend so much caring for the many migrants allowed in and that we have little to spare for our elderly,  who have lived and fought for this country all  their  lives.

But whatever the reason it doesn’t wash with me, the opposition MP’s or the ‘Caregate action group’, who have adopted a kangaroo as their mascot, as the decisions to close despite many pleas, were made under a  ‘kangaroo Court’, and a ‘fait accompli’ as they see it.  Now it seems the council have come up with a face-saving/vote saving solution, but in the words of a Caregate member:

“Due to pressure from us, the Council have put the homes out to tender!  We all know that it will not be a good outcome for the staff and ultimately our loved ones.  Whatever the Council decide we will not go away, we will monitor and be around for next May when they all come up for election.

They thought we would disappear but we are a very strong group who know what they have done is unacceptable.  Most people roll over and go away, we will not.  It is the only way we can break the arrogance which exists with Doncaster’s out of balance council”……………NB! Caregate can be found on Facebook.
