Who are these so called ‘wealthy pensioners’?

I wish I knew where these ‘studies of income’ for pensioners get their figures.

I am 72, my wife is 65 and between us we get an annual figure of £15,913; which includes the state pension and a poultry amount I get per month because of the collapse of the Equitable Life.

Your figures are quoting nearer £30,000 per couple – well that is a joke surely?

We live in a 3 bedroom semi, run one car and have one holiday a year, and we survive.  Imagine if we had £30,000 a year we would be ‘over the moon’.

We don’t have private pensions and I know many people of our age group don’t have them either, so it must be the really wealthy pensioners they get these figures from.

Have we forgotten the pensioners who last winter could not put their heating on because they could not afford it?!

The truth is the government will look at these figures and decide we are okay; nothing could be further from the truth!
