hols5Richmond Retreats, offering holidays with care prove a success

We all need a change of scene from time to time where we can enjoy a little rest and relaxation.  A holiday usually does the trick, but what if you need the sort of assistance hotels just can’t provide?

To meet this requirement Richmond Villages - which has a number of luxury retirement villages in the UK - launched Richmond Retreats last year, where holidays with care are the focus. The holidays have proved so popular that the company has had to increase the number of apartments available for short stays.

Paddy Brice, managing director of Richmond Villages, says:  “We have some of the most beautiful retirement villages in the country, all with excellent facilities.  While these are often compared with five star hotels, there is an important difference.

hols1“We offer assistance with bespoke care and support packages based on individual needs, and provided by our own care team who are on site 24-hours a day.  It made sense to offer all this to those in search of a worry-free holiday, where they can have a special diet, for example, or help with day-to-day tasks.”

Facilities at Richmond Retreats vary from village to village but can include a wellness spa with a swimming pool, gym, health and beauty treatment rooms and a hair salon, a restaurant, café, shop, IT and craft rooms, a library and a bowling green.

The restaurants offer an excellent dining experience with delicious meals using locally sourced ingredients.  Special dietary requirements are catered for and staff can help with menu selection to ensure a nutritionally balanced diet.

Activities typically include art classes, bridge, bowls, film nights, happy hours, supper clubs, interesting visiting speakers and live performance events.

hols3Guest accommodation comprises spacious apartments similar to a hotel suite, with a living room, one or two bedrooms and an en suite shower-room.  A kitchenette is stocked each day with basics, including breakfast items, or guests can have a full English breakfast in the restaurant.  Lunch and evening meals are provided in the restaurant.

Richmond Retreats offer full or half board options for a minimum of three nights.  Holidays are currently available at three of the company’s retirement villages: Richmond Northampton, priced from £115, and Richmond Letcombe Regis, Oxfordshire and Richmond Painswick in the Cotswolds from £150.  Prices are based on full board, single occupancy per night; double occupancy rates are published on the website www.richmondretreats.co.uk or for further information call 0844 4119 390.
