To celebrate the United Nations Day of Older Persons on 1st October, the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education, (NIACE) is launching a photographic competition to showcase the digital photographic skills of older people. The theme for the photographs will be “Growing old disgracefully”.

The PDSA have launched "pets’ gallery competition" a free competition - but with the invitation to make a £1 donation to help other furry friends in need of the PDSA’s help. Handsome hounds, magnificent moggies, gorgeous guinea pigs, charming chinchillas, to name but a few, are all in with a chance of being crowned the PDSA pets’ gallery winner and winning their owner a superb Canon digital camera.

Bringing art out of the shadows in Warwickshire

An exhibition focusing on the psychological and symbolic meaning attached to the shadow is coming to Compton Verney on June 29th. The theme is explored through the medium of installation, video and photography, and features top artist from around the world, including Carlo Benvenuto, Christian Boltanski, Tracey Moffatt, Andy Warhol, William Wegman and Francesca Woodman.

A new face is wanted for The Wildlife Trust’s campaign for the introduction of a robust Marine Bill to protect our seas, so they are asking photographers to dip beneath the waves in a competition in conjunction with the British Society of Underwater Photographers (BSoUP).

Glastonbury Abbey will be running a new photographic exhibition competition this year, with the theme " Life and Wildlife at Glastonbury Abbey".

Open to both amateurs and professionals it runs from 1st January until 12th September, with three cash prizes of £100, £50 and £25.
