No prayers before council meetings

Hypocrisy? Maybe.

Councils are now discouraged from public prayers before meetings. Nothing will stop the God-fearing from praying privately. Were the really important pre-council meeting “headstogethers” also preceded by prayers? Some decisions are attacked by voters.

Stem cell replacement organs

In all the “public consultation” about the removal of organs in hospital for transplant to other patients, I have heard not a word about the undoubted ongoing work of growing stem cell replacement organs in sterile laboratory conditions.

Surely a whole battery of such germ free organs could be kept ready for immediate use nationally. No difficult and/or heartbreaking decisions would be necessary.

Don’t pull out cats’ eyes

Around mid-Kent, and I suspect nationwide, the use of cats’ eyes as aids to ascertain the edge of the roads is disappearing rapidly. The reflective cats’ eyes were highly effective and cost efficient and their absence, especially in country areas which are badly lit if lit at all, means that many drivers rely on full headlights.

Lest we forget

As an avid reader of Mature Times over the last few years and being a Senior Citizen, it is nice to know we are seen to be useful, by, for example, looking after grandchildren. But everyone seems to go on about how much longer we live and how much this costs.

True measure of worth

So much financial doom and gloom is predicted for the times ahead, but my hope for 2012 is that people will see things as they really are. We chase after money and material possessions as if they were the be all and end all, but you came into this world with nothing and you’ll leave it with nothing.
