Hearing specialist brings Italian style to Solihull

Global hearing aid specialist, Amplifon, opened a new branch in Solihull last month as part of its UK expansion programme. The branch was opened by the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Norman Davies, at 58 Station Road in the town centre.

Amplifon’s new branch is based on a design concept honed in the Italian city of Verona and, according to Amplifon CEO, Steve Fleming, is a style set to revolutionise hearing health treatment in the UK: “We have dedicated a huge amount of research to find out exactly what people want when visiting a hearing specialist.

“Our Solihull customers will be among the first people in the country to experience hearing health assessment and treatment in one of our new concept branches, designed to maximise comfort and offer the latest hearing related technology and after care service.”

Speaking of his involvement with Amplifon, Councillor Davies said: “Hearing loss is not always given the attention it deserves.  Many people suffer from the condition, yet do nothing about it.  I wanted to get involved with the opening to help Amplifon in its campaign to highlight the importance amongst Solihull residents of going for regular hearing tests.

“Hopefully, the presence of Amplifon in the town will even further ensure the issue of hearing loss is something that stays at the forefront of people’s minds.”

There are nearly nine million people with hearing loss in the UK and as part of its Bringing Sound to Life campaign, Amplifon is offering free hearing tests at the new store. Mark Connell, registered hearing aid audiologist at Amplifon’s Solihull branch said: “We have identified a strong need for hearing services in the town.  It is estimated there are 28,500 people in Solihull alone that are suffering from some form of hearing loss, based on RNID research showing one-in-seven of the population have mild, moderate or severe hearing difficulties

“New developments in technology means hearing devices are becoming more discreet, some even the size of a five pence coin.  I hope to dispel the myths surrounding hearing devices and concentrate on the positive effects, which could mean a dramatic improvement in a person’s quality of life.

“The new branch will provide customers with a relaxed and comfortable environment in which to have their hearing assessed, while at the same time offering them the best in hearing aid technology.”
