Should Joanna Lumley be made a Dame?

Richard Field has started a No. 10 Petition requesting that the much-loved Joanna Lumley be made a Dame. He is asking MT readers who support his suggestion to sign up.
Joanna Lumley has championed many worthy causes for a number of years, and Richard feels that "due recognition should be given to her for these efforts". Just recently she has publicly fought for the rights of Gurkas to reside in this country, whilst, in Richard's view "behaving with a sense of purpose and displaying the due respect to ministers dealing with the matter". He also believes that she has shown that democracy does work and that one person can make a difference.
