Website brings art lovers and artists together

Spotting and acquiring quality, original art from up and coming artists can mean endless hours spent in art galleries – or just a few minutes in front of your computer screen.
The website ArtGallery.co.uk has been set up to make the very best of original art accessible to everyone with an internet connection. On one site, over 5,000 original pieces of art are on display (as well as a number of limited edition prints) from some 800 different UK artists – figures which are growing every day as new artists put their works on the site.
What’s more, with prices from £20 up to over £2,000, and styles ranging from traditional to contemporary and avant garde, there really is something for everyone on the site.
For artists looking to put their work in front of a large and international audience, ArtGallery.co.uk represents a superb opportunity: because the costs of displaying art are so much lower on a website than in a gallery, artists receive a higher percentage of the sale price. They also potentially have thousands of buyers looking at their work every day.
ArtGallery.co.uk has helpful, informative sections which explain - for those new to buying original art - how best to go about the process, and even allows you to see how each work would look in a variety of different rooms.
“The site takes the mystique out of buying original art, making it more accessible to everyone,” says Aileen Mitchell of ArtGallery.co.uk. “All of us appreciate art, but not all of us are confident enough to go round galleries – and many more of us just don’t have the time.”
There are also some other major advantages. There’s a whole section on the dos and don’ts of choosing art as a present and – if you’re still not sure, you can buy a voucher for them, or invite them to look at the same piece of art from anywhere else in the world.
“Original art isn’t just a wonderful and exciting thing to own,” says Aileen Mitchell, “because you connect with the artist’s creativity and spirit. It can also be an investment for the future. Choose wisely and you might be buying work from the next Damien Hirst, Anthony Gormley or David Shepherd.”
