Parky: now you can enjoy his interviews and music at any time!
30/09/2008
In the competitive world of chat shows and star interviewers, one man stands head and shoulder above the rest. Sir Michael Parkinson set the bar back in the 70s, and over the years since no-one has managed to come close.
But you don’t have to wait for daytime repeats to catch up on his best work. He now has his own website where you can watch some of his classic interviews such as Nelson Mandela and, just as importantly, catch up with his views on a whole host of subjects.
As he says: “The rumours that I have given up work are much exaggerated. I gave up the talk show on telly and the Radio 2 show but I haven’t exactly been idle since and maybe this site will help put a few things straight!”
On his weekly blog he’ll be sharing his latest news plus his own thoughts on the films he’s seen, books he’s read, the television he’s watched – and a few observations about sport too, so expect some fireworks!
The new website will also be the platform for another new venture: the forthcoming series of Parkinson branded compilation albums. It will also support Parkinson's favourite charitable organizations and will act as the digital home for his award winning restaurant The Royal Oak.
Sir Michael Parkinson’s series of album releases commences with the November 3rd release on Reprise Records of 'My Life in Music', a compilation of the music that has provided the soundtrack to his life, remembers the extraordinary people he's met and celebrates the styles of music and performers he is most passionate about.
The album's 40 tracks, hand picked by Parkinson, feature the crème de la crème of jazz and classical songs from some of the most respected artists including Michael Bublé, Nat King Cole, Paul Simon, Elton John and of course Frank Sinatra. The Sinatra tracks are a particular coup as they are not usually licensed for compilations.
