Understanding Spiritual Healing – and dispelling the myths
20/08/2008
We all have energy flows within ourselves which, when blocked, can result in physical symptoms. Through Spiritual Healing the mind, body and spirit are accessed, negative energy and physical and emotional blocks are released and all the energy systems of the body are balanced. And through this, good health can be restored.
Spiritual Healers have different gifts but broadly we link with the healing energy that exists and direct it to the patient. My own gift involves channelling; this is a very powerful form of healing and works in a natural intuitive way.
Spiritual Healing is for everyone, however young or old. Animals too!
I have helped patients with bereavement, family break-up, rejection, stress and self-acceptance. I also work on the physical and, for example, have worked with a gardener whose painful foot was making it difficult for him to walk and released the back problems of a client who came to me with emotional problems.
Sometimes Spiritual Healing is combined with other forms of physical healing. I employ Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Australian Bush Flower Essences and Massage to complement my Spiritual Healing work, where the patient and I agree this is acceptable.
So why isn't everyone doing healing? Unfortunately some people do not naturally turn to healing because they incorrectly think they must totally “believe” in healing or God. Others worry that they may upset their doctor if they are already using the medical system or believe that only conventional medicine – doctors, hospitals and drugs – can help them.
But healing doesn’t interfere with conventional medicine. It is complementary. Healing is a simple, gentle process and healers may use candles and music to help you relax and crystals and herbs as part of the healing process. Initially you will be invited to talk and share your thoughts.
Some Spiritual Healers then employ laying on of hands, others do not.
You can choose which you prefer. I work on the body from the front or back or both, laying my hands on or above the body. As healing progresses, patients feel increasing peace and calm. By the end of the session they are usually relaxed, tension-free and eased from pain.
Afterwards healers may sit and discuss your experience and some will prepare herbal essences as appropriate, which assist with healing and balance. Some return from time to time and ultimately a balanced and happy life is achieved by a person paying regular attention to their emotional, spiritual and physical well-being.
Healing can be done face to face or at a distance, once healer and patient have connected, perhaps by telephone.
