Win a copy of 'I Believe - The Best of The Bachelors'
18/07/2008
The Bachelors, the original Irish boyband, are back with a disc of their greatest hits that shows why they took the UK by storm. They knocked The Beatles off the number one spot, stayed in the pop charts for 77 consecutive weeks, and became the inspiration for Boyzone.
They performed with Neil Diamond, tutored members of Led Zeppelin, and have played for The Pope, the Queen and the Queen Mother.
This collection of their smashes is ample testimony as to why The Bachelors had hit after hit (they even entered the Guinness book of records for the group with the most amount of number ones with girl's names in the titles - nine in total!). They wrote perfectly honed pop tunes, and played them with effortless energy and charisma. It's a formula that has seen them continue touring from the legendary pop landscape of the sixties through to the digital decades of the nineties and noughties.
And the last few years have seen a huge renaissance in interest in their music. Con and Dec are busier than ever in 2008, having recently toured America, and with the release of I Believe, this is set to grow yet further. This stunning album also includes two classic new tracks, "Gortnamona' and 'Somewhere'.
'I Believe' is released on 21st July 2008
