The Friendship Centre Federation embrace special interest groups

Have you got a Special Interest? If so find out about what the Federation has to offer you.

As well as Friendship Centres, the Federation's membership also includes Special Interest Groups. These groups are mainly made up of individuals who already belong to a Friendship Centre but there are also those groups that just stand-alone. The Special Interest Groups who have joined so far include:

Active Retired Persons Computer & Internet Group
Active Retired Persons Golf Society
Active Retired Persons Ski Club
Environment Concern
Greater London Walkers
Hear Here Deaf Club
Heyday Caravanners
Maidstone Lakeside Short Mat Bowls and Social Club
Radio Amateurs
Ten Pin Bowling (NE)
Ten Pin Bowling (S)

All of these Interest Groups are active and self supporting and, apart from the Heyday Caravanners and the Ten Pin Bowling Clubs, there are no restrictions on membership. For example the Computer Group has over 390 members and each receives a Quarterly Newsletter either by email or through the post. These members also have access to “arpquery” which is forum for discussing and resolving their computer problems. Another group is the Greater London Walkers who regularly hold led walks in and around Greater London. Then there is the Ski Club which has already a planned ski programme for 2009 and the Golf Society who annually hold two regular golfing weekends in the UK and a further fortnight in Spain.

A wide range of activities is already available to members, and if you would like to find out more about these groups, use the contact details at the bottom of the page.

If you belong to a group with a special interest not yet included in the Federation's membership why not seriously consider joining the Federation. Apart from the obvious wider audience for your activities to be made known there is also a very attractive Public Liability Insurance scheme in which you can participate.

You can find out more about these Special Interest Groups by visiting the Federation web site linked below, or by emailing Bob Hendley, Secretary, at fcf@post.com.
