Veterans’ Day celebration in Leeds
25/06/2008
The Second World War Experience Centre is inviting people in Yorkshire who remember 1939 – 45 to a free event to celebrate Veterans’ Day.
Anyone who lived through the war is invited to join them for afternoon tea, a wartime performance from The Cosmopolitan Players, a free raffle, wartime quiz and military vehicles. The event will be held on 27th June 2008, 12 noon until 3pm at Pudsey Civic Hall
Veterans’ Day is a celebration of the contribution made by all those who have served in the Armed Forces - as well as those in Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets who have served in support of operations. However this event will celebrate all those who lived through the Second World War, not just the armed forces.
Cathy Pugh, General Manager, said: “This is a fabulous opportunity to celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of those people who played their part in the war effort, whether at home or abroad. If you remember wartime life, call us on 0113 258 4993 to book your free ticket”.
This event has been made possible through the generosity of our sponsor, Unity Trust Bank.
Kevin Turmore, Managing Director of Unity Trust Bank said: “We owe a debt of gratitude to all those who have defended our country by their service in the armed forces and who now use their talents and expertise to enhance and improve their local communities. Unity also has a long and proud record of supporting local communities through its partnerships with charities, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and trades unions, so we are extremely proud to be sponsoring this Veterans’ Day celebration.”
