Cream Tea Special for U3A Roseland and District

The University of the Third Age Roseland and District has a lot to offer residents of the Roseland in Cornwall and its surrounding district; namely, art, embroidery, Shakespeare, video and camera, basic and numeracy computers, walking, family history, local interest, knitting, digital imaging, video and camera, a luncheon club, and a monthly meeting.

 

As the name implies, activity groups take place on the Roseland peninsula, the most important coming up now is at Portscatho.

 

If the U3A is to continue its work in improving the quality of life for everyone within its catchment area, it needs to raise more funds - as the current 29p a week membership does not go very far!

 

With this in mind, on Saturday 14th June at Gerrans Parish Memorial Hall, Portscatho between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm, the U3A are providing cream teas, where two home-made scones, home-made jam and Rodda’s cream with tea or coffee will cost just £2.50. There will also be a sales table for selling books, bric-a-brac, wool, jigsaw puzzles etc. in order to raise much-needed funds.

 

It is hoped that at least £200 will be taken on the day, and they appeal to all Mature Times readers to support them by attending this event (even if you just come for a cup of tea, biscuit and chat).

Activities currently planned include a coach trip to London to see two plays at Shakespeare’s Globe theatre.

 

Membership from now until the end of March 2009 is £12.50.
