Do YOU know who this medal belonged to?

The search is on for family of a soldier who was awarded a medal in World War One - after a remarkable discovery in a Welsh rhubarb patch.

Mrs Brown from Manafon, near Welshpool in Powys was surprised to unearth the medal while digging her rhubarb patch in her back garden - an area that hadn't been dug over properly for 25 years. She is now keen to track down the family of the recipient, a Private G Jones.

The medal is thought to be a general service medal awarded 90 years ago to soldiers who fought in WW1 - and the inscription on the rim reads: "Pte G Jones Che R 57726". Although Mrs Brown wants to return it to Pte Jones' family, she has so far been unable to track them down. She said: "To think that somebody had gone through all that - and it's just been left in the soil.

"I would have been really proud if someone had come to me and said 'we've found this medal, I think it belongs to your grandfather'."
