Plea from Grandparents Apart - please support our cause!

In our relatively short period of existence, Grandparents Apart have raised the profile of grandparents by lobbying all the UK governments and by issuing press releases through television, radio and magazines. We now ask you to help us continue this work by becoming a member. But first, this is what we have achieved so far:

- Dispelled the myth that grandparents have a right of contact with their grandchildren
- Provided a helpline 'listening ear' service for grandparents that was not available before
- Worked in a Stakeholder Group with the Scottish Government and as a result the ‘Charter for Grandchildren’ and the ‘Parenting Agreement’ were created as guidelines to help families and children
- Shown that ‘bridge building’ is our speciality - the more grandparents that are aware of our existence the more we can fulfil our motto of ‘Bringing Families Together’
- Risen from being seen as a complainer to the Government to being a respected source of information
- Successfully highlighted the unfairness of our legal aid system
- Received £10,000 from The Big Lottery to develop our Mobile Family Information and Education Centre
- Written a book ‘Grandparents Speak out for Vulnerable Children’

To carry on our work we ask you to become a member - and a Membership card will be sent as a receipt for donations of £5 and over, either by post or e-mail. You can pay by any credit card using our secure paypal system by going to www.grandparentsapart.co.uk, or send a cheque or postal order to The Cashier, G.A.S.H. 22 Alness Crescent, Glasgow G52 1PJ.
