Mixed reactions to the new bus passes
30/04/2008
The new free bus pass is symbolic of Labour's addiction to control. The card contains a transceiver (a combined radio transmitter and receiver), enabling your personal travel habits to be recorded. Likewise the London Oyster card, most bank and ID cards - so the plastic card revolution is a wonderful ploy for government snoopers to monitor our everyday habits.

We pensioners now have our new bus passes - thankyou! - but for the sake of half an hour, my Surrey Heath council saw fit to change the time on them to 9.30am. The fact is that the buses are empty between 9am and 9.30am when I can easily get on them with my disabled wheeler. After 9.30am they are too busy, and the bays are filled with push chairs and shopping trolleys.
I am trying to put pressure on the council - so anyone in my area who reads this, please join in with me. They might relent!
