'Treasure Chest' by Terry Galligan

Memories are like jewels,
With the passing of time
They get less bright.
The best time to revive them
Is to choose a quiet time of night.

Pick out the one you treasure most,
Wrap it in your cloth
Of remembrance.
Then gently polish,
Until it’s shining bright.

The effort may bring happy laughter,
Or some sadness mixed with tears.
But that’s what memories do
They store feelings
For years and years.

I have a treasure chest of memories,
In which there is
A smaller box.
It contains the jewels
That are my memories of you.
