Enjoy Calendar Girls chocolates - and support Leukaemia Research
28/04/2008
Chocolate lovers can now nip to ASDA and get a delicious box of chocolates featuring the famous Calendar Girls - knowing that for each box purchased they will be making a donation to the cancer charity Leukaemia Research.
The chocolates, made by Whitakers, feature 12 Neapolitan squares wrapped in an iconic 'Calendar Girls' image and are already sold in support of Leukaemia Research. But now ASDA have pledged to double the donation by matching the 20 pence from each box sold - so the charity will receive 40 pence per every box sold in ASDA.
The fundraising efforts of the Calendar Girls was inspired by the sad loss of John Baker who died from non-Hodgkins lymphoma aged just 54 in 1998. Nothing could have prepared the Girls for the way their original 'naked' calendar took off, and to date they have raised nearly 2million Leukaemia Research.
John Whitaker, owner of Whitakers Chocolates said: "The phenomenon of the Calendar Girls is just amazing. Something that began in north Yorkshire is now known worldwide, and I'm delighted to use our chocolates to help the Girls raise even more money for research."
The chocolates, priced at 2 a box, are available at selected ASDA stores from 16th April until 13th May. They are also on sale via the website linked below or by calling 020 7405 0101.
