What planet is Alistair Darling on?

I’ve just listened to the Budget speech in dismay and disbelief. What planet is the Chancellor on?

I’ll be getting a rise in my pension of £3.40 a week. But my rent has just gone up by £2.15 a week and my gas and electric bills are shooting up all the time. And on top of that even basic foods are getting more and more expensive by the week. The extra £50 winter fuel allowance will go nowhere near meeting the rise in fuel costs.

I’ve been reduced to running around different supermarkets trying to save a few pence here and there by buying reduced items.

At the same time, people coming here from abroad are getting millions of pounds sent back there in family allowance – with more on its way.

What is happening here? Doesn’t this Government WANT old people in our country?
