Great Scottish walks
05/03/2008
The Great Scottish Walks have established themselves as one of Scotland’s premier fundraising events, since their launch in Edinburgh in 1998.
Great Scottish Walk Edinburgh – 22 June 2008 – Meadowbank Stadium – 1030am
Great Scottish Walk Glasgow – new for 2008 – 25 May 2008 – Bellahouston Park – Palace of Art
The routes (1 – 6 or 12 miles) are designed to take in the cities most scenic historic sights and leafiest parks. Along the routes walkers and supporters will be treated to entertainment and when they reach the finishing line walkers are greeted with a carnival atmosphere in the form of vibrant music from samba bands and the announcement and cheering of entrants across the finishing line. Details of the routes can be seen by viewing the walks official website at www.greatscottishwalk.com linked below.
Entry to the Great Scottish Walk costs £10 for adults and £8 for children under 18 years. Walkers completing the course will receive a goody bag along with a medal and certificate.
Join now and be part of the fun – last years Great Scottish Walk attracted over 6000 entrants who walked for over 100 charities and raised in excess of £1 million for good causes – will be two Great Cities and promises to be twice the fun.

Wee Walks
The Great Wee Scottish Walks first started four years ago and complement the Great Scottish Walks and are open to younger walkers aged from 2-16 years. These mini walks are designed to actively encourage young people to become more socially aware by participating in fundraising events, and introducing fun physical activities as a means of targeting and eliminating the problem of childhood obesity (the Wee Walks series of events have been endorsed by Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon MSP). Each event includes a two mile walk, two mile fun run, toddlers romp, teddy bears picnic, bouncy castle, face painting, Chaplin’s disco bus and local produce stalls. All entrants will receive a goody bag, certificate and medal and entry is £5 – parents and guardians go free.
