Need critical feedback for your writing?

If  you are a writer based in the East Midlands and need critical feedback on your work, you might like to try a service called "Critically Write" - an appraisal service giving anonymous, independent, professional level feedback on writing and  live literature/spoken word performance.

It is run by the Literature Network who use established, professional writers with a strong track record of tutoring and mentoring, as well as writers with contacts within the literature industry, as appraisers.

If you are writing fiction (including for children), literary non-fiction, poetry, plays, short stories, or for radio, you can apply to Critically Write. If your manuscript is selected for the scheme, it will be sent to an appraiser who will supply you with a detailed critique.

Our costs are subsidised, as the scheme is part grant-funded by Arts Council England. Some typical costs to writers are as follows:

● Appraisal of full novel up to 90,000 words, £60.
● Appraisal of up to 10 poems, £40.
● Appraisal of synopsis and up to 3 chapters of a novel, £30.
● DVD of live literature performance or live performance at which an appraiser can be present, £40.

In order to apply to the scheme, you need to fill in an application form, write a covering letter and submit your manuscript in a particular format.

Details of how to go about this process and of all the different types of

manuscripts we consider, can be found on the website linked below. Alternatively write to:
