'The Acrobat' by Jim Henderson

I put up some bird feeders
To help the birds survive.
They need as much as they can get
To keep themselves alive.
But squirrels need to feed as well
And one is always here,
It will go to to any length,
Never has a fear.
He is so determined,
Just will not give in,
No matter how I try,I know,
I will never win.
So skilful,very agile,
To get just anywhere.
No task is too difficult
He always will get there.
Whether on a washing line,
Or a high brick wall,
It does not matter where he is,
He's not afraid to fall.
His teeth will bite through anything
To gets the nuts to eat,
But little birds that need them too
Just can not compete.
I study him and watch his moves
To see what he does next,
And some things he gets up to
Can make me really vexed.
But I have to credit him,
He has a brilliant brain.
He knows he can outwit me
And does it all the while,
"You have me beat my furry friend
I really like your style."
