Make your cuppas count for Britain's needy pets
26/02/2008
We all know that the nation is partial to a cup of tea, but this year, The Blue Cross pet charity is encouraging tea drinkers to slurp up a new challenge for Britain's needy pets.
Following the success of last year's initiative, the charity is calling on animal lovers all around the UK to host a Blue Cross Tea Party on 16 May, and this time the race is on to find the ultimate tea-time treat. The Blue Cross is encouraging participants to enter its Tea Party competition by sending in a recipe for the perfect tea accompaniment.
Registering to take part is simple, and will help to raise vital funds for The Blue Cross. Those wishing to take part in the event simply invite friends, family, neighbours or colleagues to their own tea party and ask them to make a donation to The Blue Cross. Proceeds from each party will go towards supporting the charity's work caring for the sick and homeless animals at its 11 adoption centres and four animal hospitals around the country.
Blue Cross events officer, Tracy Chittock, said: "Hosting a tea party for The Blue Cross provides a perfect excuse to take a break and relax with family, friends or colleagues over a warm brew and a slice of cake. Donations from as little as seven cups of tea can provide a lifesaving intravenous drip for a poorly pet in one of our animal hospitals."
A fundraising pack including lots of useful supporting materials will be sent out to those who register to help make their party an event to remember.
